Peanut Farming in Mesa del Tirador: A Sustainability Project

The peanut plantation in Mesa del Tirador, Bolaños, Jalisco, has been a steadily growing project since its inception in 2022. Its main objective is to achieve optimal harvests for the commercialization of Grupo Sesajal’s high-quality products.

As part of our commitment to community development and sustainability, we implemented a Supplier Development Program to train local communities in regenerative agriculture practices. This program focuses on producing high-quality raw materials for commercial use, while simultaneously supporting environmental conservation efforts.

In its first year, the project successfully planted and harvested 55.09 hectares, yielding 17,853.47 kg of organic peanuts—a promising start that set the groundwork for future success. In the second year, the cultivated area expanded to 79.7 hectares, resulting in a production of 30,091.80 kg of organic peanuts. This remarkable increase highlights both the program’s effectiveness and the region’s potential for sustainable agriculture. This year, we’ve set an ambitious goal: planting 100 hectares with an estimated production of over 45,000 kg of peanuts.

The impact of this project extends beyond agriculture. It creates valuable employment opportunities for the local community, providing lasting economic benefits year after year. Additionally, the adoption of regenerative farming techniques not only enhances soil health and crop productivity but also plays a vital role in preserving the environment.

This project exemplifies agricultural innovation, aimed at improving peanut production while strengthening the skills and economy of the region. Together, we are cultivating a sustainable and prosperous future.
